Natural Product is the compound or a molecule that is obtained from a living organism. Living organism could be a plant or animal that is found in nature. It is a kind of extract that is produced from any part of living organisms and used for medicinal treatment against disease. Natural products also can be produced by chemical synthesis i.e. called Total Synthesis.
Organic chemistry plays a key role for the development of natural products by synthetic route in pharma or chemical laboratories. Natural products have also been extended for commercial purposes such as cosmetics, medicines, food materials etc.
Around the world a huge number of scientists and researchers are working on direct use of natural products which are extracted from living organisms or by synthetic methods. Natural products are an organic compound that is produced by the pathways of primary and secondary metabolism. In the basic research natural products are potential bioactive components that can be a lead compound in drug discovery.
In the 21st century natural products received specific attention for the development of drugs or medicines as mentioned by the U.S. FDA approved drugs.
Natural products play a key role for the treatment of any disease by the use of any part of the living organism and it is mentioned in “AYURVEDA” also. It is based on direct or indirect use of the product as in Ayurveda treatment or Allopathic treatment.
