India Energy Storage Week (IESW) 2023, hosted by the India Energy Storage Alliance (IESA), brought together Clean Energy experts and manufacturers from over 25 countries on Wednesday in the nation's capital to support India's ambitious net-zero carbon emission objective. One of the largest green energy expos in the world, IESW 2023, opened with a grand ceremony at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi, ushering in a new age of clean energy transformation in India.
Green Energy and Sustainability at the Forefront: IESA's India Energy Storage Week 2023
Financial newspapers in India: Indian Prime Minister Tarun Kapoor's advisor opened the IESW 2023 expo and stressed the need for all stakeholders in clean energy and sustainability to work together to promote India's transformation to a greener energy future. "Large-scale storage solutions are needed as the number of gasoline-powered vehicles declines, especially two- and four-wheelers. We must be self-sufficient and produce everything here in India, while simultaneously making investments in RD to develop items that meet our needs and utilise domestic resources.
For battery manufacturing in India, there is already a production-linked incentive (PLI) programme. The PLI system may go through another phase, and moving forward, if further support is needed (for the manufacture of batteries), we can come up with some. The price will undoubtedly decrease if manufacturing does move to India, as we all hope. In addition, raw resources like lithium and other minerals are needed for manufacturing. We have barely explored 8% of India so far, although we currently only have small lithium reserves here. We are sure we will find lithium and other minerals if we continue to explore.
India can control the global market for lithium-ion batteries, which are an essential part of the energy shift. In the words of Vikramadithya Gourineni, Executive Director - New Energy Business, Amara Raja Batteries, "We can build a strong Li-ion battery manufacturing ecosystem that will not only support the nation's transition towards clean energy but also create employment opportunities and contribute to the economy."
As per best business newspaper, more than 500 renowned organisations from over 25 nations, including the UK, USA, UAE, Australia, China, Germany, Singapore, France, Italy, Israel, and Sri Lanka, as well as 60+ CXOs from the e-mobility and green hydrogen ecosystem, 100 start-ups, 50+ women energy leaders, and 8+ ministries, will attend IESW 2023 to show the nation's commitment to sustainable and green solutions.
