'Golden Left Foot' Lee Kang-In tries to break the defense's back-to-back goals in two games

Vietnam take on Korea A tonight at 8pm at Suwon World Cup Stadium

Klinsmann's "golden left foot," Lee Kang-in (Paris Saint-Germain-PSG), will be in search of goals for the second straight game against Vietnam's stingy defense.

Jürgen Klinsmann's men's national team will face Vietnam in their second October A match at the Suwon World Cup Stadium on Sunday at 8pm.

After a 4-0 victory over Tunisia on Sept. 13, the team will look to make it three straight wins in A matches.

South Korea, ranked 26th by FIFA, is objectively ranked several spots higher than the 95th-ranked Vietnamese, so an easy win is expected.

However, the key to the game will be how well South Korea can break down the Vietnamese defense.

Klinsmann's team will have to face defensive-minded underdogs like Vietnam in the immediate future, starting with the second round of World Cup Asia qualifiers in November and continuing through the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Asian Cup next year.

They are expected to play a tight defense with virtually all of their players dropping down, so they will need to find a way to score effectively.

With Son Heung-min (Tottenham) unavailable after missing the Tunisia game due to injury concerns, the question is whether Lee Kang-in's golden left foot will be as potent against Vietnam.

Lee scored two second-half goals in a four-goal thriller against Tunisia.

He opened the scoring with a precise left-footed free kick, then capitalized on a defensive mistake to score another left-footed goal.

Klinsmann also praised Lee ahead of the Vietnam game: "I can't say enough about Lee's performance in the last game. He had a good game. I hope it's a step up for him," Klinsmann said.

"We're playing a 4-2-3-1 formation, which requires us to rotate our strikers. Even if he starts on the left, he can move to the right," he said, emphasizing Lee's versatility.

Vietnam's defense is not as strong as Tunisia's, but with their large number of defenders, they could struggle if they don't get an early goal.

This is where set pieces, such as free kicks, can be crucial. In the last match against Tunisia, Lee Kang-in scored the game-winning goal from a free kick.

Lee, who won a gold medal at the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games, will be eligible for military service and will be able to continue his career in Europe.

Lee was a little heavy at the Asian Games due to injury, but he was at his best against Tunisia.

He is likely to play in the second line against Tunisia. He'll be on the flanks, but as Klinsmann said, he'll be looking to attack the defense from the center as well as the left and right.

Son Heung-min may not play, but if he does, he will be expected to work with Lee Kang-in.

"It will be interesting to see how he fits in when he comes back," Klinsmann said.

If Lee Kang-in, who followed up his A-League debut with a multi-goal performance against Tunisia with another against Vietnam, finds the back of the net, it will be the first time he has scored in two consecutive A-League matches. 19가이드03
