Woo Sang-hyuk "Late night, sleeping in, charging up, now preparing for the Paris Olympics"

After a busy 2023 season, high jumper Woo Sang-hyuk (Yongin City Hall) is recharging his batteries by enjoying late-night meals and sleeping in. The athlete, who is shaking off the fatigue and stress of 2023 with plenty of rest, has expressed his determination to compete again for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Woo was honored at the 61st Korea Sports Awards ceremony at the Seoul Plaza Hotel in Jongno-gu, Seoul, on Nov. 31.

After the ceremony, Woo told reporters, "I am so honored to receive such a great award. I think the award means that I should work harder in the future. I will work harder to prepare for the Paris Olympics next year."

This year, Woo won the Golden Grand Prix, finished second at the Florence Diamond League and won the Asian Athletics Championships. At the World Athletics Championships 2023 in Budapest, Hungary, in August, he finished sixth, but rebounded to top the podium at the Diamond League Final.

Woo followed that up with a silver medal at the Hangzhou Asian Games and concluded his 2023 campaign with a gold medal at the National Championships in Mokpo, South Jeolla Province, on Sept. 18.

Woo said, "I've been taking a well-deserved break since the National Championships.
